SMS and FMCB

Hi.
I've got the latest version of FMCB 1.7 with SMS install on my MC on a non-modded ps2. I'm trying to get SMS to play files of a dvd-r. I've followed this guide hxxp://home.casema.nl/eugene_plotnikov/en/usage-dvdr.html but I'm having no luck. I can't even get SMS to recognize the dvd in my ps2.

Is this even possible? Is there another elf program that would allow me to do this? Thanks for any help.

If you do try using ESR patcher you would patch an image of a simple Data DVD, not an SMS style Video DVD. You would then need to launch the mcard version of ESR on your PS2 BEFORE you launch SMS so that ESR enables SMS to see the disc's 'real' contents.

If you followed those directions exactly it should work correctly as is does for me. Just a few things to note: under the SMS Menu and under "Device settings...", make sure the option "Disable CD/DVD" has a red X and not a green check mark. And also, when you place your made DVD-R into a regular DVD player or when you play it with the PS2's DVD player you should get this screen:

If you get that screen and you can see your audio or video files on the disc in your PC, then the disc should be fine. Another thing to try is to place a regular DVD video in your PS2 while SMS is running to see if it reads that. If not, maybe your laser needs cleaning. Hopefully this helps you out.

I figured it out.

The default settings for fmcb ver 1.7 will allow you to boot SMS on start up by holding down the L2 button. When you do this it will read the dvd-r and works like a charm. It's the only way I could figure out how to get it to work.

Thanks everyone.

Note: I have a slim ps2. Not sure if this will work exactly the same way with a fat ps2, but it should.
